Shaun Vu


Shaun brings a depth of experience to Sláinte Volleyball Club. He is the current boys Sláinte 16-1 Panthers coach and will be going into his 4th season as the girls Sláinte 16-2 Forest coach. In the past four seasons, Shaun boys teams have finished in the gold division. His team’s highest finish was 2nd place in 2008.

Shaun was the former head coach for Lowell High School (1985) where his team won the San Francisco City Championship. He also coached Lick Wilmerding boys 1985 volleyball team to a 2nd place finish in league. He has many years of experience as a player and coach in USVBA/NCVA adult men’s league, grass doubles, and 9-man volleyball. His specialty is developing each player’s skill and minutely fine tuning individual playing style. In the summer season, he coaches 9-man volleyball. In 2007, his team won first place in the silver division.

Shaun grew up in San Francisco where as a teenager he started honing his volleyball skills at the Chinatown playground. When he is not in the gym coaching, you can spot him delivering for UPS in the Sunset District. Outside of volleyball, Shaun enjoys a good game of poker, mah-jong and puttering around in his garden where he tends to his fruit trees and over 50 rose bushes.
