Nga Tran
Sláinte Co-Director

Nga is the co-founder of Sláinte Volleyball Club. Over the years, her Sláinte girls teams have finished top 5 in their age region and qualified for Girls Junior Nationals six times. Most recently, her 14-1 and 17-1 team qualified for the GJNC 2016 Tournament, where they both placed 3rd in the silver division. Players from these teams have moved on to play at colleges such as Fordham, Bucknell, University of San Francisco, UC Santa Cruz, NYU, Menlo College and San Jose State University.

Nga is the head boy’s volleyball coach at Sacred Heart Cathedral. As head boy’s volleyball coach, she led the Irish to their first CCS championship, WCAL championship, and Academic State Championship, and has repeatedly qualified her teams for sectional playoffs. In girl’s high school volleyball, Nga is the current head assistant varsity coach for Sacred Heart Cathedral, and in the past, was the head varsity coach for Mercy HS in Burlingame where her team won the WBAL League championship (2010). She was named the 2011 Central Coast Section Honor Coach for Men’s Volleyball.

Nga comes from a family of 10 children who grew up loving sports and games. She is from the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan and is a graduate of the University of Michigan.

Margi Beima
Sláinte Co-Director

Margi is the co-director and co-founder of Sláinte Volleyball Club. Margi is the head coach of the Sacred Heart Cathedral women’s volleyball program. In her tenure, SHC has tallied more than 400+ wins and has won a WCAL title, six CCS titles, five NorCal championships, and a Division III State Championship. She has coached more than 30 players who have gone on to play in colleges across the US, including USC, Washington State, St. Mary’s, USF, Fordham, Dominican, Puget Sound, SF State, Cal State East Bay, Springfield, Gonzaga, NDNU, Menlo, Wagner, Carnegie Mellon, Cal State Fullerton and Rice.

Margi has received numerous coaching awards, including 2004 SJ Mercury Volleyball Coach of the Year, 2005 CCS Honor Coach, 2010-11 CIF Model Coach of the Year, and National Federation of High School Sports (NFHS) 2010 Western Regional Girls Volleyball Coach of the Year. Margi attended Santa Clara University on a volleyball scholarship and went on to earn her master’s degree from New York University. She and her husband, Doug, have two children, Joe and Maddy, both volleyball players.
